Jakes Pad - Mid-West Wales Holiday Cottage
Jakes Pad is an original 120 year old Welsh slate cottage in the small hamlet of Cwm Llinau, in West Wales, It is 8 miles from the important welsh market & administrative town of Machynellth.  Cwm Llinau is set in the picturesque Dyfi Valley and on the edge of Snowdonia National Park a place of outstanding natural beauty.
The area is popular with walkers/mountain bikers and holiday makers who are in search of a relaxing destination. A beautiful cycle ride or walk, The Mawddach Trail, which is a disused railway that runs from Dolgellau to Barmouth and was called "stunning" when walked by Julia Bradbury, is a must.
The nearest beaches are to be found 15miles away from the holiday cottage, at the beautiful seaside town of Aber Dyfi and Barmouth, a very popular seaside town with a very large sandy beach is around 24 miles north west from Jakes Pad.  In the south west direction the closest beach would be Borth and Ynylas (a huge beach that can be driven on) and then onto the well known Aberystwyth, which provides lovely walks around the ruined castle and the seafront.
Inland you have the famous Lake Vyrnwy which has been used in films and if you are feeling brave, this can be reached by the small mountain road out of Dinas Mawddwy and is around 13 miles from Jakes Pad and lots of fun, but don't look down!
The area has much to offer and too much to mention, for the ramblers/walkers not forgetting a great walk up the lesser known, less crowded and the  highest mountain in Southern Snowdonia, Cadair Idris, if you are feeling energetic of course!
The nearest pub/restaurant is one mile from the cottage in the next village of Cemaes, the nearest golf coarse is to be found in Machynellth 8 miles from the cottage and on a Wednesday Mach comes alive, as there is a small market to walk up and down.  Another place of interest is the Centre For Alternative Technology or CAT Centre just outside of Mach, this is home to one of the largest Water Balanced Railways!
